A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician to join our St Pancras Hospital pharmacy team at Central & North West London NHS Foundation Trust.
The post offers an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical and professional knowledge and skills in both rehabilitation and elderly care healthcare services,working closely with the multi-disciplinary team in an inpatient setting.
The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.
Main duties of the job
You will need to demonstrate a person-centred approach and have effective interpersonal and organisational skills. Previous NHS Hospital pharmacy experience, including elderly care, would be desirable.
You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to engage with patients/carers, confidently complete medicine reconciliation and deliver medication counselling. Additionally, you must be able to organise your workload and uphold standards of pharmacy practice, referring and reporting concerns when appropriate.
General medicines management skills are necessary for this role stock management, ordering of patient medications, reducing wastage and maintaining secure, safe environments.
You will also be expected to participate in the weekend and bank holiday rota, following a period of induction and training.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

- GPhC recognised combined Pharmacy Technician qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- oGPhC recognised combined Pharmacy Technician qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) ooo oCurrent registration with GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician (Trainee Pharmacy Technicians are encouraged to apply, but must be registered with the GPhC to begin employment) ooo o(if qualified prior to 2020) Completion of a recognised Medicines Optimisation training course o(if qualified prior to 2020) Completion of a recognised Final accuracy checking course

- Current membership to APTUK (association of pharmacy technicians UK)
- Completion of HEE/NHSE approved Practice supervisor course
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

- Substantial Hospital pharmacy experience (inclusive of PTPT training period)
- Experience of working on wards, counselling patients, checking PODs, and medicines reconciliation.
- Experience of supporting or developing technician services.
- Liaison within a multidisciplinary team
