Ward G4 has an exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced Nurse, who has a passion for nursing older patients, to join the Team as a Sister/Charge Nurse.

G4 is a 27 bed Ward that specialises in nursing acute medical patients who are over 75. These patients have can have complex medical needs as well as complex discharge requirements.

As Sister/Charge Nurse you are also a team leader with responsibility for a team of nurses and health care assistants, as well as supporting and deputising for the Senior Sister.

This is the ideal position for somebody wishing to progress their career, enhance their leadership and managerial skills and join a very friendly motivated team.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the overall running of the ward and the co-ordination of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe and effective standards of patient care and patient flow as well as providing teaching to staff.

To participate in a full range of shifts, including Trust and Unit bleep holder rotas, ensuring a visible presence in the ward area.

Essential

• Current and relevant registration on NMC Register
• Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
• Practise Assessor and Supervisor

• Relevant postgraduate qualification

Experience

Essential

• Experience of shift and ward management in absence of senior colleagues
• Experience of mentoring and teaching junior staff
• Experience in an acute elderly care environment
• Experience of complex discharge planning issues

• Experience and awareness of patient flow and the impact of poor patient flow
