Respiratory Nurse Specialist - Asthma and COPD

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Respiratory Department for a Respiratory Nurse Specialist in Asthma and COPD. We are looking to recruit an experienced, dynamic, highly motivated and pro-active nurse, to join our team of specialist nurses.

Main duties of the job

Our team have responsibility for reviewing patients admitted with an exacerbation of COPD or Asthma, providing education and support for the patient, giving management recommendations to the ward based MDT, and ensuring referral to community services/ GP practice on discharge.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • RN registered with NMC.
  • Completion or commitment to undertake relevant extended role scope competencies.


Desirable

  • Assessing / mentoring qualification
  • Holds a diploma or degree level qualification in respiratory care, ie Asthma and /or COPD course.


Experience

Essential

  • Substantive post registration experience.
  • Experience in caring for respiratory patients including those with Asthma, COPD.
  • Experience of supervising students.


Desirable

  • Experience of teaching and education
  • Experience of nurse led clinics.


Skills

Desirable

  • Spirometry Course [ARTP or Similar].
  • Oxygen prescribing.
  • Spirometry competent.
  • FeNO competent
