Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our award-winning team as an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) for a 9 month internal secondment to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting and advancing our commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
Provide senior leadership and expertise for EDI across the Trust.
Ensure compliance with legislative, national, and organisational EDI requirements,
Lead the operational delivery of the EDI work plan, ensuring timely and resource-efficient outcomes.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote EDI initiatives and best practices.
Coordinate and deliver EDI training and development for all staff.

provide senior leadership and expertise for equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across the Trust, working closely with partner organisation as appropriate. They will play a key role in supporting the divisions/directorate to deliver the Trust Workforce Strategy, specifically the creating inclusive workplaces and caring for the health and wellbeing of our staff themes.

be knowledgeable on workforce equality and diversity issues within the NHS, e.g. national NHS strategies including, but not limited to, the NHS long term plan and the NHS People Plan,
Take responsibility for ensuring the Trust meets legislative, national and organisational requirements inclusive of the capture, reporting and publication of data, e.g. Equality Act 2010 Public Sector Equality, Specific Duties Regulations . Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES), the Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) and Gender Pay Gap.
Develop and manage systems that enable the Trust Board and stakeholders to assess and be assured of equality performance, inclusive of detailed advice and information on the interpretation, implementation and monitoring of legislative and other equality requirements including work undertaken
Project manages programmes focused on EDI agreed outcomes. Responsible for leading the operational delivery of EDI work plan, working closely with colleagues within the Trust to achieve the agreed outcomes ensuring that they are delivered within the resources available and on time
Measure and monitor the outcomes of the Trust EDI work plan, working with colleagues to develop new programs and practices that effectively increase diversity and inclusion.

Essential
- Degree level with either a Masters degree or equivalent level experience
- Evidence of significant CPD in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development in leadership
Desirable
- CIPD qualified (MCIPD) or equivalent Experience
- Project Management at Prince Foundation level or equivalent

- Experience working in the area of Diversity & inclusion at a senior level in a complex work environment
- Evidence of Influencing others without direct authority, to achieve solutions
- Evidence of being proactive in providing solutions, resolving issues and overcoming hurdles to achieve lasting results.
- Evidence of leading large scale project in a complex environment e.g. managing a change or implementing new organisational wide system or process
- Experience of budget and contract management including procurement of services.
- Experience working with equality data inside or outside the NHS, e.g. WRES, WDES Gender Pay Gap, public sector equality duty, etc.
- Demonstrable experience of providing specialist advice, support and guidance on a range of highly complex and sensitive issues to key decision makers within the organisation - preferably EDI focused
- Proven track record of contributing to service improvements in areas of equality
- Line management experience, including objective setting performance management and staff development
- Excellent written communications skills with the ability to produce committee reports as required
- Highly effective communicator with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas, concepts, and proposals to engage team, peers, and management.
