The cardiac rehabilitation team at the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a passionate and dynamic Band 6 Nurse Specialist to join their team and growing service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team of cardiac nurses, exercise physiologists, cardiac rehabilitation assistants and administrative staff all committed to providing a highly specialised service to patients following a cardiac event or surgery. We are looking for a proactive and self-motivated cardiac nurse with relevant and significant experience in delivering care to patients with cardiac conditions. The post holder would be expected to provide specialist advice and deliver education and support through phases 1 to Phase 3, as well as undertaking the pre-admission clinics for cardiology procedures.
Main duties of the job
Under the mentorship of the senior cardiac rehabilitation nursing and exercise physiology team, the successful post holder will positively contribute to the care delivery of patients following an acute cardiac event. Their role will be to provide the necessary clinical expertise, education, support and guidance to patients and their caregivers. The responsibilities of the post include in-patient advice and follow up in an outpatient setting, both face to face and telephone consultation. Health assessment and the awareness of current, up-to-date guidance of secondary prevention medications are a critical componentof the role. Possession of the health assessment course and the Non-medical prescribing or commitment to acquire these qualifications are essential. Prospective Band 6 candidates must be able to demonstrate relevant, significant post registration experience in Cardiology.
