Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference in a new role? Do you enjoy working in a flexible way and thinking outside of the box? Do you want to make a difference to the lives of young people with language and communication needs? If so, this role may be for you!
We are looking for a forward-thinking, dynamic and innovative speech and language therapist to provide input to young people with speech, language and communication needs who are accessing the Youth Justice Service (YJS) in Bolton.
This role will also be considered as a Band 6/7 progression for the right candidate, which will involve working through role specific competenciesto develop your knowledge and skills.
Main duties of the job
Working within the YJS as a highly specialist SaLT, you will be required to assess young people who have been identified as possibly having SLCN, to determine their needs and identify if there are any adjustments needed to support their understanding or communication needs.
Intervention may be provided to young people where appropriate, and it is important that the applicant is able to think flexibly about their approach to encourage the young people to engage in intervention to support their SLCN.
Traditional assessment methods may not always be appropriate and it will be essential for the applicant to be able to use a range of formal and informal assessments with the young people to enable them to gain an understanding of their SLCN.
It will also be important for the applicant to have an understanding of other commonly associated conditions and be able to apply approaches based on neurodiversity or attachment needs.

In Bolton we like to think about the future and how improvements can be made to better the experience for our service users and stakeholders. If you feel you would be a good fit for our team in this role, get in touch for an informal chat.
