We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) , ideally with addition experience in Laser safety. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of friendly, experienced and professional staff providing radiation safety and imaging physics services across the North East and Cumbria.
Consideration will be given for appointment at Band 7 for candidates within 18months on RPA certification.

Main duties of the job
Appointment as RPA / LPA to one or more NHS Trusts and/or private organisations.
Contribute to delivery of teaching and training within Unit.
Contribute to delivery of radiation safety services.

- Highly specialist in-depth knowledge and understanding of the application of physical and engineering sciences applied to medicine or a related field, as performed and developed within the Department, to doctorate level or equivalent
- Highly specialist in-depth knowledge and understanding of current legislation and regulations pertinent to working area and the protection of staff, patients and members of the public
- In-depth knowledge of diagnostic radiology including relevant legislation
- Specialist In-depth knowledge of radiation safety, including ionising and non-ionising radiation and relevant legislation
- Expert knowledge of radiation dosimetry
- Advanced knowledge of working area, enabling post-holder to advise on the appropriateness of techniques, and to collaborate with clinicians
- Advanced knowledge of scientific method and collection and analysis of data using standard scientific tools and software.
- Knowledge of Governance issues including ethical and regulatory considerations
- Ability to interpret data, analyse problems and evaluate solutions
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Training, teaching & mentoring skills
- Good report writing and presentational skills, including the production of scientific papers, reports and conference presentations
