Are you looking for a Band 6 role to enhance your clinical skills and leadership development in an acute setting?
We have a full time rotational band 6 opportunity in our acute, emergency and specialist medicine team at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. Wards covered in the nine months rotations are: Accident and Emergency, Acute Assessment wards, Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Infectious diseases and medicine for the elderly wards.
You will work in a large dynamic and friendly integrated therapy team, and will have an opportunity to work with an effective MDT on the wards to provide a safe and high quality care for our patients.
You will be required to work closely with band 7 OT and band 5 rotational OT to plan and co-ordinate discharges for patients on medicine and medicine for the elderly wards. The post holder will be liaising with community Home first teams, Adult Social Care teams and Complex discharge teams supervising and supporting band 5 OT staff and educate OT students on placements.
The successful applicant will have a broad range of clinical experience at band 5 level. It includes carrying out home and access visits, assessing for wheelchairs and equipment provision, co-ordinating safe and effective discharges and completing referrals to community teams for follow-up.
It is important that the successful applicant is a team player with a positive outlook, enthusiasm and ability to learn and develop new skills. You must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in a relevant clinical setting, possessing highly specialist assessment, treatment and risk management skills. The ability to work autonomously, but also well within a multi-disciplinary team is essential, as is the ability to promote the role of Therapies and the implementation of evidence-based practice. In addition to the clinical caseload, the post holder will have the opportunity to play a key part in the development of the Therapy service and the team.
You will be supported by band 7 OT for clinical and professional development. We actively support continuing personal and professional development through an established performance development review (PDR) system, in-service training and external courses. We can support you to undertake quality improvement projects so you will learn the methodology and gain experience by doing it at work.

Main duties of the job
- To provide high quality standard of occupational therapy management to patients at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
- To participate in a cross site rotational scheme, providing a high standard of occupational therapy.
- To perform advanced assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
- When providing occupational therapy within this Trust you will be expected to be professional, efficient, effective, with a commitment to evidence based practice and continuous professional Development.
- The post holder will be required to participate in the rostered weekend service cover arrangements including, unsocial hours and overtime (specific rota details are held locally within departments). Staff will do so once they have completed the relevant induction and achieved the required competencies.

Essential
- Degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy.
- Demonstrate learning of personal effectiveness and first line leadership from experience and from both formal and informal CPD activity.
- Able to demonstrate specialist learning from band 5 rotations, formal post-graduate level learning and informal CPD (both general and specific to clinical fields of speciality).
