An opportunity has arisen for a fixed term post to cover maternity leave, as a Speech and Language Therapist, within the Integrated Austim Team. As a service there has been a number of exciting developments including the relocation to a new base within Ysbyty George Thomas in Treorchy. For the right candidate there will be opportunity for training in assessment processes i.e ADOS.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver and support the provision and development of specialist Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Services for autistic adults who require assessment and intervention arising from autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).
The post holder will work as part of the Cwm Taf Integrated Autism Service (IAS) supporting all ages with Autistic Spectrum Disorder to access resources and activities enabling them to engage with others, occupy roles and live as active member of society.
The post holder will work alongside adults and their families providing joint working, consultation, training, advice and support for other professionals.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.
- Registered member of Health and Care Professions Council
- Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy
- Wide experience of specialist post graduate training and experience equivalent to Masters level.
- Completion of Clinical Supervisors course.
- Highly specialist knowledge underpinned by current evidence based practice.
- Knowledge and understanding of policies relevant to service area.
- Knowledge of wider public service policies.
Desirable
- Membership of CEN.
Experience
Essential
- Own specialist caseload management experience
- Management/clinical supervision of less experienced speech and language therapists in own clinical area.
- Responsibility for and supervision of speech and language therapy students up to final year
- Management/supervision of assistants within own clinical area
- Use and interpretation of assessments for highly specialist caseload.
- Ability to manage caseload without direct supervision tasking a lead in the specialist area.
- Independently plan and prioritise own caseload.
- Experience and knowledge of alternative and augmentative communication
- Excellent formal presentation skills.
- Planning and delivery of training/teaching to speech and language therapist, other professionals across a range of disciplines
- Planning and delivery of clinical audit
- Selection, implementation and reporting of outcome measures
