An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic lead nurse for Infection Prevention and Control to join our dedicated Infection prevention team to deliver specialist advice, education and services at Liverpool Women`s Hospital.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to engage an motivate others, have appropriate clinical, managerial experience and be computer literate. You must also possess excellent organisational skills and be able to demonstrate that you can work autonomously and as part of a team, be a quick thinker, problem solver and demonstrate effective and proven leadership skills. The post holder is responsible for the delivery of evidence based clinical standards , ensuring high quality care and providing effective leadership and management in relation to infection prevention and control . The post holder will manage the Infection prevention and control team provide clear and visible leadership for infection prevention at Liverpool Women`s Hospital to contain and reduce healthcare associated infections through risk assessment, surveillance , audit , education policies guidelines and post infection reviews.

Main duties of the job

Manage and develop the Trust's Infection Prevention and Control plans in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Infection Prevention (DIPC).Working closely with the Deputy DIPC and the Infection Control Doctor, the post holder will provide strategic leadership for delivery of the IPC agenda, and management of infection prevention.

To ensure the prevention, surveillance and control of healthcare related infection in the Trust, and the attainment of key Trust performance targets relating to Infection Prevention and Control. Ensuring that systems and processes are in place to comply with relevant legislation and governance requirements, linking with professional bodies, and others such as commissioners about service developments, contracts and clinical care pathways whilst utilising the expertise and skills of the wider team.

Job responsibilities

The post holder is the site IPC Lead with management and leadership responsibilities on the site.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Learning

Essential

  • RN or RM
  • ENB 329 or equivalent Infection Control qualification
  • Masters degree ( working towards or equivalent experience)
  • Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD
  • Evidence of proactive involvement in the mentorship and development of nurses
  • Effective communicator able to communicate complex and sensitive information
  • Teaching certificate or equivalent


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working at a senior management level within the NHS
  • Experience of working with medical staff and other NHS clinicians


Desirable

  • Previous experience at Senior Nurse level

  • Expertise in the knowledge and practice of Infection Control nursing
  • Demonstrate up to date knowledge of Infection Control research
  • Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentoring learners
