The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research and its partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe. The Chelsea Radiotherapy department has four Varian True beam linear accelerators, a Cyberknife and a Brachytherapy Suite. We also have a Siemens Confidence CT scanner and utilise multi modality imaging for planning.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring, enthusiastic and highly motivated therapy radiographer to join our team in a Band 6 role. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and knowledge in advanced techniques, such as IMRT, VMAT, VIBH and IGRT, and will be trained in delivering specialised Radiotherapy techniques such as SABR and SRS/T as part of their role within the department. This will entail working closely with the Band 7 radiographer to provide an efficient and high-quality service for patients, giving you the opportunity to work at the forefront of radiotherapy development in a forward thinking and technically advance department for the benefit of our patients,

Main duties of the job
- The post-holder will be responsible for carrying out radiotherapy processes as prescribed, carefully and accurately and assisting in the operational management of a specialist highly complex radiotherapy work base, which may be a treatment unit, a brachytherapy unit, a CT scanner, VS area or a treatment preparation area, and supervising the immediate radiographic team in the absence of a team leader.
- The post-holder will liaise with medical, physics, nursing, clerical and support staff within the department and throughout the institution. The key working relationships will be with the Senior I radiographers.

- Responsible for the accurate preparation, planning and delivery of treatment by self and by members of the immediate team in the absence of the Senior I radiographer.
- Meet the regulatory responsibilities defined for an operator as delegated by the Trust under the IR(ME)R regulations. With appropriate experience may be defined also as a practitioner for concomitant exposures as before.
- Promote, maintain and develop the technical abilities of self and junior staff, ensuring all practice meets the highest legal, ethical and professional standards.
- Participate in the clinical education and assessment, both formal and informal of a diverse mix of student radiographers at the work base, and assist in their day to day supervision.
- In the absence of the work base leader, to take responsibility for the organisation of the radiotherapy work base and staff.
- Be compliant with statutory and Trust requirements for record keeping within the department.
- Observe and comply with the Trust's policies and procedures for Health and Safety ensuring the environment in which you and your team work is safe, clean and tidy.

- HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer (requires BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy or equivalent accredited programme)
- Post registration experience of sophisticated RT equipment treating advanced techniques in a complex department, competent in IGRV , IMRT technologies

- Able to work non-standard hours between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00 to meet the exigencies of the service and will be expected to participate in the non-residential radiotherapy weekend on call service and the weekend day or bank holiday service that runs up to 8 times a year to cover gaps in treatment
