Bolton's learning disability health service is integrated into the Community Learning Disability Team, combining the learning disability health services with social care. The team is based at Farnworth Town Hall located within the Bolton borough.
You will be an enthusiastic speech and language therapist, with a passion to help others and to work with adults who have a learning disability and complex physical health needs and/or behaviours.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job
To provide a specialist diagnostic and therapeutic service to adults with a learning disability across Bolton who have communication difficulties and or dysphagia and who are undergoing active management by the team.
There will be opportunity to bring creative thinking into your work and use skills acquired throughout your previous Speech and language therapy training and experience.
The post holder will have access to clinical supervision, peer and managerial support. There is a commitment to providing ongoing training and professional development, including development of skills and leadership opportunities.
In line with The Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Strategy for England, the post holder will support the implementation of policies designed to achieve quality in healthcare including championing diverse and inclusive leadership and improving representation from those with protected characteristics.

To be a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the Community Learning Disability Team in Bolton. This Team provides a multi-disciplinary / agency service to adults with a learning disability, in respect of both health and social care.
To be a core member of the Community Learning Disability Team, taking a full part in all multidisciplinary working including training, decision making, case conferences and scheduled meetings, ensuring well-coordinated care.
To provide a specialist diagnostic and therapeutic service to adults with a learning disability across Bolton who have communication difficulties and / or dysphagia and who are undergoing active management by the team. Patients will be from a variety of ethnic and social backgrounds. These patients may also present with challenging behaviour and / or mental health issues.
To liaise with, train, and work in partnership with patients, relatives, paid and unpaid carers and multi-agency workers and professionals to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service
