The post holder would be required to provide technical expertise, knowledge, and training in the fields of cardiac pacing, ICD's and CRT devices (Cardiac Rhythm Management - CRM). They would ensure that the CRM service runs smoothly and efficiently. They would provide a positive and effective leadership to the Cardiac Physiology / Healthcare Science workforce. They would participate in CRM implants, running and supporting CRM clinics, including face to face and remote device clinics. They would be required to support device patients undergoing treatment/tests in other areas in the trust e.g. radiotherapy, MRI, theatres, A& E, endoscopy, ward admissions etc.

The post holder will work 37.5 hours per week between Monday and Friday. They will also be required to participate in the on-call rota for cardiac catheter labs, urgent on-call CRM device implants, including Saturday cardiac catheter lab lists.

Please note, if you do not meet the essential criteria of a Band 7, Annex U will be applied at 70% of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate

Main duties of the job

To provide technical expertise, knowledge and training in the field of cardiac rhythm management (CRM)

The post holder would also rotate through other diagnostic areas of the catheter labs and Cardiac Investigations Unit at James Cook University Hospital and the cardiology department at The Friarage, Northallerton. They would be required to provide training and advice for other staff and trainees within non-invasive cardiology, to help and maintain an efficient, professional, and patient centred service.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Skills Annex U

Essential

  • Knowledge of pacing and ICD functions and associated complications
  • Working at BSc level within their own scope of practice
  • Competence in non-invasive cardiology procedures and knowledge of cardiac clinical physiology


Desirable

  • oAdvanced knowledge and experience in pacing, ICD and CRT troubleshooting and complications


Qualifications and Training Annex U

Essential

  • RCCP / AHCS registration, or can evidence they are working towards accreditation within a specified time frame
  • Working toward full BHRS accreditation in CRM devices (or equivalent) within 18-24 months of employment


Desirable

  • oSCST Diploma in ECG interpretation
  • oMentorship qualification
  • oAppropriate company led CRM devices courses/ seminars.


Experience Annex U

Essential

  • oGood level of experience of working within CCL and an implanting CRM device theatre


Desirable

  • oEvidence of clinical audit / research within the field of cardiology
  • oExperience in face to face CRM device and remote monitoring clinics


Knowledge and Skills Band 7

Essential

  • oAdvanced knowledge and skills of pacing, ICD and CRT troubleshooting and complications
  • oWorking at MSc level within their own scope of practice
  • oSignificant competence in non-invasive cardiology procedures- PPCI, TAVI, CRM implantation


Qualifications and Training Band 7

Essential

  • ?RCCP registration or equivalent
  • ?BHRS Devices accreditation and/or up to date IBHRE in Devices


Experience Band 7

Essential

  • oExtensive post qualification of experience within the field of CRM implants and follow up.(varied device types)
  • oExperience in sole working as only point of contact / advice for CRM
  • oExperience in remote monitoring clinics
  • oPolicy/ Protocols and SOPS creation


Desirable

  • oLine management experience
