An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring individual to join our Vascular nursing team.

The post holder will be an integral member of the Vascular Service specialist team, providing care, treatment and education to patients and their families.

The Vascular nursing team would welcome a forward thinking individual who is committed to ensuring our patients receive only the very best in evidenced based nursing care. The post holder will be based in Whitehaven however will be required at times to travel across North Cumbria.

Main duties of the job

The role requires you to :
  • To work independently at an advanced clinical level in the direct delivery of high quality care, making clinical treatment decisions based on advanced assessment.
  • To provide clinical leadership and support regarding vascular care to the nursing teams across the Trust and support colleagues in developing the Trust's vascular service to improve the patient experience.
  • To support Consultants with day to day clinical activity (to be determined according to need of specialist area).
  • To provide in-patient areas with consistent high quality care and support of vascular issues.

Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Lower limb / leg ulcer training
  • Ist Level Degree or working towards


Desirable

  • Prepared to work towards Masters Level
  • Recognised mentoring qualification


Knowledge

  • Experience of caring for patients with vascular disease
