CLCH have an amazing opportunity for a Band 7 Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist at Edgware Community Hospital

The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner, taking a lead in co-ordinating and providing a highly specialist physiotherapy service to children with MSK, Rheumatological and Orthopaedic conditions.

A significant proportion of these children will have English as an additional language (EAL).

He/she will be expected to manage their own caseload, they may need to work alongside medical staff to ensure highly specialist therapy programmes are in place for the children under their care.

Be responsible for the delivery and development of the Paediatric Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy Services within Central London Community Health Care Trust (CLCH).

They will be expected to work collaboratively with children/young people (CYP), parent/carers and with colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services, in planning and delivery of services to this specific client group.

He/she will be the key contact for the paediatric MSK and rheumatology services and will represent the department at relevant meetings both within and outside.

Main duties of the job

Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care. Ensure a consistently high level of clinical care for the patients under your management and support your peers to do likewise.

Provide an equal and equitable service for all patients, including the harder to reach population groups.

Undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients, using investigative and analytical skills.

Be aware of your professional limitations, seeking support as necessary through supervision, discussion with peers/more senior colleagues and team case discussions.

Use a variety of assessment and treatment techniques appropriate to the patient, in accordance with evidence-based practice, national guidelines and trust and departmental policy (including manual handling and confidentiality).

Education/Qualification

Essential

• BSc Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy
• Evidence of continuous professional and personal development
• Registration with the Health Professions Council

Desirable

• Member of a specialist group
• CSP membership E

Experience

Essential

• Significant experience in MSK and related fields.
• Active member of multi-disciplinary team
• Supervision & training of junior staff & students.
• Experience in managing provision of physiotherapy for MSK
• Experience of working in an outpatient department
• Experience of working within NHS environment
• Experience of working with a wide range of patient conditions
• Research project carried out at undergraduate level
• Experience of planning and delivering clinical supervision / mentoring to peers and less experienced physiotherapists

Desirable

• Experience of assisting in projects within team
• Experience at Band 6 level
• Pain Management experience and knowledge

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

• Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its influence on Service Development
• Knowledge of recent research supporting or negating physiotherapy management of neuromusculoskeletal conditions
• Knowledge of equal opportunities
• Effective physiotherapy manual skills to assess and treat patients with neuromusculoskeletal conditions
• To work at or towards M level standard towards a full Masters qualification
• High level of IST including presentation of IST & cases with the ability to teach other staff - juniors, assistants & students.
• Appraisal skills
• Awareness of NHS & Trust systems, policies, procedures & current changes

Desirable

• Knowledge of NICE guidelines and the NSF's
• Presentation skills to lead and teach in-service training sessions
