This role will be responsible for the Banking, Treasury and VAT Team, Ensuring the timely completion of cash books reconciliations, Banking reconciliations, the reconciliation of payments and the review of Sales ledger and Purchase Ledger VAT.
This is a critical team within the Financial Services Department that aims to deliver strong governance, excellent service to colleague and patients and innovation to Finance. Recently winning an award 'Innovative team of the year 2024' from the Northern HFMA.
The post holder will benefit from a strong understanding of Banking and Cash Management processes, good understanding of financial procedures, experience with finance systems and a good understanding of NHS Tax Legislation, including Business activity and Partial Exemption, Contracted out schemes and VAT. Experience as a manager will be ideal in this role as you will manage a team across 3 sites, experience and ambition to deliver projects to improve processes will also be ideal for success in this role.

Main duties of the job
This role will be achieved with the supervision of the Bank, completion of VAT reviews, assisting Business Activity VAT Recovery, Making Tax Digital submission, and Vat Return submission as well as the stewardship of control accounts and suspense accounts.
The role will also adopt the review and approval of band 4 and 3 control accounts to ensure they are correct, balance to the balance sheet and are completed to audit guidelines.
This role will now also adopt the management of 4 bands within the banking, treasury and cashiering team to help provide support to the current Band 7 department lead. This will result in personnel management activities such as, scheduling annual leave, absence managements, performance reviews and covering the role of Band 4's and 3's during periods of absence as and when required.

- To take a lead role in the day-to-day operations of the Technical Accounts section
- To ensure that all staff are aware of corporate governance procedures and ensure that financial information is processed accordingly
- Ensure that targets are met in line with financial timetables, including assisting with the preparation of Monthly Accounts and Quarterly/Annual returns
- To give financial support and advice to a range of staff, on a number of issues, thus facilitating effective management and financial control within the department
- Assist in the discussions with a number of non NHS organisations on matters affecting the Trust

- Experience in a Finance Department of a large complex organisation.
- Accounting Technician level 4, or Certificate level of a professional accountancy (CCAB) qualification or NVQ 5 or equivalent experience.
