The successful candidate will be multi skilled with electronics/mechanical engineering as a primary discipline and should be enthusiastic, and highly motivated person, joining our existing Radiotherapy Engineering Group (REG), to help maintain and repair our state-of-the-art X-Ray Linear Accelerators and CT imaging equipment
The department has six Elekta linacs (three Versa HD), all linacs are equipped with FFF technology) and a kV unit. Pre-treatment imaging consists of two Siemens wide bore CT scanners with associated ProSoma virtual simulation software. Treatment plans are produced using Raystation and Monaco. We have an active brachytherapy service, treating a variety of sites using our Nucletron remote after-loading brachytherapy unit.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide essential first line maintenance and repair to state-of-the-art radiotherapy linear accelerators and associated equipment. They will apply excellent fault diagnosis skills, engineering knowledge, and information technology proficiency to minimise clinical delays.
They will be required to perform to high standards of accuracy and safety, within legal and departmental standards, in order that clinical equipment operates efficiently and safely.
The post holder will be required to communicate effectively within their team and to a range of other healthcare professionals.
The post holder will participate in the group's 7 day rolling week to cover the needs of the service.
To participate in the activities of the Radiotherapy Engineering Team, performing a range of tasks under supervision.
Operation of Linear Accelerators system to aid in the maintenance and repair of the radiotherapy treatment machines in a safe manner.
Assist in the provision of technical services including equipment install, repair and calibration.
Assist in Quality Assurance (under supervision).
Assist in quality related tasks such as audits, documentation and corrective action.
Assist in the data management from linear accelerator machine parameters.
