We are looking for an experienced Neuro-Radiographer to join our small, friendly MRI Team.

The department currently has a 1.5T GE Artist Clinical Scanner and three 3T GE Research Scanners. You will have the opportunity to expand your skills in MR Spectroscopy, functional MRI and diffusion imaging as well as performing a wide range of research and clinical structural MRI studies.

The Maudsley is internationally recognised for its clinical and research work, with a close clinical and academic partnership with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King's College London.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an experienced radiographer, able to work autonomously within their specialist area, and accountable for their own professional actions. They will assess and manage their caseload, giving advice and guidance to patients and other health care professionals.

The post holder will assist in the timely, efficient, and cost-effective management and operation of the specialist imaging section. They will ensure provision of the highest standards of patient care. This person will be working closely within a multidisciplinary team.The post holder will deliver a high standard of Neuroradiographic practice, providing training to new staff members when required.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be an experienced radiographer, able to work autonomously within their specialist area, and accountable for their own professional actions. They will assess and manage their caseload, giving advice and guidance to patients and other health care professionals.

The post holder will deliver a high standard of Neuroradiographic practice, providing training to new members of staff when required.

Key responsibilities

Produce high quality diagnostic and research images, ensuring best practice from research imaging is translated to the clinical service.

Accountable for own professional actions and work within codes of Practise and professional guidelines.

To participate in any shift system which may be in place or negotiated in the future in order to develop the service.

To participate in all audit, quality assurance and control initiatives to fulfill Service Level Agreement and Patient Charter requirements.

Demonstrate, maintain, and update specialist skills and knowledge of current MRI practice

Work with others in the development of research MRI protocols.

To clean specialised imaging equipment and adhere to control of infection guidelines to maintain a good clinical environment.

In carrying out the duties of the post, the employee is required to work in accordance with the Policies and procedures of the Trust including Health & Safety, manual handling, data protection and equal opportunities.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • BSc Radiography (or equivalent)
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registration
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Able to present information effectively
  • Flexible attitude to working
  • Applicants must demonstrate specific reasons for wishingto work in the department

Desirable criteria
  • Familiarity with GE MRI Scanners

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent post graduate MRI experience
  • Teaching experience with radiographers and members of other professions

Desirable criteria
  • Research experience
  • Experience with clinical audit

Skills

  • Able to undertake manual handling tasks
  • IV Cannulation certificate
