An exciting opportunity has arisenon the Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital. We are seeking a new band 7 ward manager due to internal promotion within OUH.
The HASU is a 22 bedded unit which looks after patients in the first hours and days post stroke. We are a tertiary centre for mechanical thrombectomy and hemi-craniectomy pathways. this is a fast paced dynamic unit with close multidisciplinary working. There is a strong focus on education and development. Our average length of stay is just 5-7 days.
The post holder will have strong leadership skills and have the ability to manage resources and budget. A knowledge of stroke care is not essential as the successful applicant will be supported by a strong stroke team including the MDT, Advanced Clinical Practitioners in Stroke and the matron and deputy matron for stroke and neuro-rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

- Use their expert knowledge and clinical judgement to lead the ward team to deliver high quality care.
- Monitor and maintain standards of care and provide this information to the Directorate
- Ensure the provision of continuity of care.
- Assess and evaluate, with patients and /or carers, the effectiveness of the treatment and care provided and make changes as needed.
- Work across professional, organisational and system boundaries and proactively develop and sustain new partnerships and networks to influence and improve health, outcomes and healthcare delivery systems.
- To effectively manage human, financial, material and information resources.

- Registered nurse (part 1, 8, 12 or 15 of register depending on area of practice)
- Postgraduate level study (HEI level 7) or demonstrable post graduate level
