The post holder will work in different localities in the Hertfordshire division in our trust as part of an integrated team to ensure patients in the Community Bedded Services have access to high quality clinical Medicines Management.
When in a non-patient facing role the post holder will ensure high standards are maintained within Community Health Services through the promotion of safe and secure handling and storage of medicines in accordance with local and national policy and medicines legislation to achieve best practice.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work in different localities in the Hertfordshire division in our trust as part of an integrated team to ensure patients in the Community Bedded Services have access to high quality clinical Medicines Management.

Essential
- Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Technician
- BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in pharmaceutical services or equivalent
- Practical experience (as evidenced by CPD)
- Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT)
- Accreditation in PODs and Transcribing via HEE Medicines Optimisation Course
- Accreditation in Medicines Reconciliation via HEE Medicines Optimisation Course
Experience
Essential
- Extensive post-qualification hospital experience
- Primary and Community Health experience
- Experience of providing a ward based Clinical Pharmacy Service with good medicines management initiatives.
- Experience of research and audit techniques
- Experience of education and training
- Experience in financial reporting
- Experience of using ePACT
- Experience in supervising a team/service.
- Experience of managing staff
Knowledge
Essential
- Understanding of the NHS and political climate
- Knowledge of all regulations and legislation and good practice in relation to medicines, Controlled Drugs and FP10 Prescriptions
- Sound knowledge of medicines management issues faced in primary and secondary care
Skills
Essential
- Excellent communicator - both verbal and written including presentation skills
- Ability to provide and receive complex information on medicines use from a variety of settings.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to negotiate and deal with complaints in the first instance.
- Ability to carry out calculations related to medication doses and quantities for supply.
- Computer literate in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Outlook
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills
