Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking for aCommunity Learning Disability Speech and Language Therapist, Band 5/6 Developmental post. This post is 37.5 hours per week, permanent contract, to work in our Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities across the six localities.
We are looking for a Community Learning Disability Speech and Language Therapist who will join our multi-disciplinary team and help to make a difference to the quality of life for people with learning disabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a wide range of people with many diverse and complex needs. This is a great opportunity to work in the community providing you with a unique opportunity to develop and learn within the learning disability service.
You may be a newly qualified speech and language therapist looking for a developmental role within our learning disabilities service, or a speech and language therapist with minimum 2 years of experience and keen to work within our specialist service working with people with a learning disability. You will be expected to do some of your visits remotely & face-to-face, working in a multi-disciplinary team approach, including working with private care providers and families. The ability to educate and influence is therefore essential.

Main duties of the job
- To manage a caseload autonomously.
- To work within the Community Learning disability multi-disciplinary team county wide but will be based alongside SLT colleagues in Reading.
- To provide a high standard of quality speech and language therapy service to people with learning disabilities in community settings. This will include providing communication and eating, drinking and swallowing input to those eligible to access our specialist service.
- To provide specialist advice and therapeutic interventions to parents and carers of people with a learning disability.
