This role forms part of the frontline of a multi-disciplinary team, working withchildren and adolescents experiencing a crisis, within the borders ofHertfordshire. You will provide specialist assessments, follow ups and short term interventions for young people aged under 18 suffering from acute andcomplex emotional, behavioural, and psychological crisis.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our service. Our clinicians provide crisis telephone line support, triage and assessment as well as face to face assessments, follow ups and brief interventions in the community. Most referrals currently come from the two A& E's in Hertfordshire, although with our new crisis telephone line we are trying to prevent anyone attending A& E if they do not have a physical need to be there. The C-CATT service operates 24/7, this role will involve day, evening, night and weekend working.

Additional positions, at same banding are available during week day 9-5, or condensed hours 8-6 over 4 days, with scope for some weekend work.As well as a relevant professional qualification we are looking for people who are:*Knowledgeof Mental Health problems that affect young people* An abilityto work with Children and Young People in challenging situations.A car driver is an essential element to the role (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving)

Person Specification

Training

Essential

  • Degree or Diploma in Mental Health Nursing /Social Work
  • Up-to-date professional registration
  • Evidence of further professional development/ training
  • Membership to professional body


Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of working in Mental Health and knowledge of mental health problems
  • Experience of working in CAMHS
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act and Children's Act
  • Knowledge of Child Protection issues


Desirable

  • Experience of using evidence based crisis interventions with young people


Communication Skills

Essential

  • Ability to keep up-to-date records and reports
  • Ability to produce written and verbal reports for external agencies
  • Ability to provide verbal feedback to team


Analytical Skills

Essential

  • Ability to assess and monitor a client's mental state


Physical Skills

Essential

  • Hold a current driving licence. Car driver (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving
