This is an opportunity to work with the Community Children & Young People's Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) Wirral . You would be apart a dynamic team working across Wirral

Band 5 Mental Health Worker to work with colleagues in CAMHS 0-18 Team . The post involves working directly young people, and their families providing direct therapeutic interventions, information, advice and guidance through consultation and organising and co-ordinating therapeutic groups.

This is a short contract to cover a short term vacancy and would suit a newly/recently qualified applicant looking to widen their experience of working within a children and young people's within a mental health service setting.

Main duties of the job

You will have: -

• A high level of enthusiasm and dedication to providing quality, community based mental health services to children, young people, and their families
• Experience of working with children and young people who, due to their mental and emotional health needs, present with a level of clinical risk
• Experience of working under pressure and in a demanding, fast paced environment
• To have the skill to adapt and the flexibility to think on your feet due to the nature of your role
• Access to transport or have the ability to travel to a variety of venues as part of the working day.

Qualifications

Essential

• Qualified in a core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional)
• And ? Professional registration with recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England)

Desirable

• Psychology or other mental health related undergraduate degree.
• Nationally recognised postqualification, continuous professional development (CPD) related to the core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional).

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

• Knowledge of child psychology and development
• Demonstrates an understanding of young people's anxiety and depression and how it may present
• Demonstrate an understanding of parenting and behaviour management interventions
• Demonstrates a knowledge of the impact of multisystemic issues such as home, school and community.
• Knowledge of child protection issues, safeguarding and other relevant legislation

Desirable

• Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological and systemic therapies and how it relates to this post

Experience

Essential

• Experience of safeguarding vulnerable people
• Experience of multi-agency working
• Experience of working in a mental health and/or CYP setting

Desirable

• Evidence of working in the local community
• Experience of routine outcome monitoring
