Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist - Pelvic Health

We are excited to invite applications for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our friendly and experienced Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Team.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive and dynamic environment, delivering assessment and intervention for a varied outpatient caseload. There will be occasional inpatient work, supporting the team on wards including postnatal, gynaecological and following gender affirming surgeries. The team manages a diverse outpatient caseload, accepting referrals from GPs and Consultants in obstetrics, uro-gynaecology, colorectal, sexual dysfunction, urological conditions and gender services.

Experience in managing musculoskeletal obstetrics and uro-gynaecological conditions, as well as leading group sessions, is essential. Experience in treating bowels conditions and sexual dysfunction is desirable, however training will be provided.

This role provides extensive opportunities for professional and personal development. You will be supported by experienced Band 7 Pelvic Health Physiotherapists, participate in regular supervision and education/training sessions to strengthen your skills. There are regular opportunities to host pelvic health courses by external providers which you can benefit from. We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual who is determined to develop and contribute to the continued success of our well-established team.

Main duties of the job

o To work as an autonomous practitioner to provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment to a varied caseload, predominately in the outpatient setting.

o To use evidence based practice, current guidelines and expert clinical reasoning to devise and implement appropriate treatment plans for patients, which may be complex in nature.

o To review and deliver treatment plans for inpatients, as required.

o To engage in regular supervision with the senior therapist.

o To support with clinical problem-solving for more junior clinicians within the team.

o To participate in CPD and other developmental activities and encourage all members of your team to do likewise.

o To work closely with the other members of the multi-disciplinary team and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

o To ensure that the therapy service in the designated clinical area is responsive to user requirements within the available resources and in accordance with directorate and departmental plans.

o To manage the teaching and clinical supervision of students and more junior therapy staff, and to take an active role in multi-disciplinary teaching sessions within the pelvic health service.

Person Specification

Education

Essential

  • BSc or Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate courses
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD


Desirable

  • Member of relevant special interest group


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of experience as a Band 5 or 6 therapist (or equivalent) in pelvic health
  • Experience of working as part of the MDT
  • Evidence of appraisal and supervision of junior members of staff or students
  • Experience in managing musculoskeletal obstetrics
  • Experience of uro-gynaecological conditions
  • Experience of running groups


Desirable

  • Experience of treating bowel conditions
  • Evidence of involvement in quality improvement and service development
  • Experience of outpatient diary management
  • Experience in managing symptoms of sexual dysfunction
