An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Paediatric Emergency Department in Brighton. We are looking for a dynamic, friendly, motivated, band 5 nurse with a passion for emergency care that are driven to deliver high quality patient focused care in a busy paediatric emergency department.

Are you a registered Children's nurse or Adult nurse with paediatric experience looking to broaden your horizon in Paediatrics

Our nurses have the opportunity tap into the expertise of specialist nurses and doctors as they handle patient assessment, investigation, diagnosis and the management of patients with an emergency presentation.

Our nurses have access to an in-house Practice Education team offering opportunities for further career progression and development.

We are a standalone Children's Emergency department with a 4 bedded short stay assessment area.

Main duties of the job

Working within a multidisciplinary team in a busy Paediatric Emergency department.

You will need to be a hard working fast thinking team player with the ability to stay calm under pressure, demonstrate the ability to organise and prioritise patient care.

Adhere to NMC at all times

Working towards the ability to Triage, attend Trauma calls, work in Resus, cannulate

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Are you looking for a challenge and excited about working in a fast-paced, innovative environment?We are seeking enthusiastic Band 5 nurses to join our Children and Young Persons Emergency Department team.

Communication
  • Maintain effective communication with parents and carers about the current status and daily activities of the children in designated area.
  • Negotiate sensitively with children and their carers particularly if there are any barriers to understanding.
  • Behave in a consistent manner with children and their carers, multi-disciplinary team and the public.
  • Communicate with children in a manner appropriate to their age and stage of development and their carers.
  • Demonstrate use of basic IT skills to complete details of booking in /discharge of patients from symphony and or short stay.
  • Write precise, accurate and timely nursing records.
  • Listen actively and respond appropriately to information given.
  • Take part in shift huddles ensuring relevant detail is communicated to the team.
