This is an exciting and unique opportunity to gain experience working as a Nurse Specialist within the internationally renowned Children and Young People's Stem Cell Transplant Service for Immunology.
The service carries out 30-40 stem transplants each year for children and young people born with immunodeficiency. We are one of two centres in the UK providing transplants for these patients and treating patients from throughout the UK, Ireland and worldwide.
As Nurse Specialist within the service, you would be responsible for the pre and post-transplant care of the patients and their families. Including preparing them for transplant and their discharge home.
You will be provided with a tailored training package and have access to a dedicated clinical educator and experienced team to support your learning and development throughout.

Main duties of the job
You will be required to have extensive post registration experience with excellent communication and organizational skills and be competent in the use of central venous caterers. Stem cell transplant knowledge and venepuncture skills are desirable but not essential as training will be given.

- Organise pre stem cell transplant care
- Support discharge post stem cell transplant
- Post-transplant ambulatory care
- Support Families during transplant process
- Liaise with MDT
- Co-ordinator transplants
- Write protocols
- Request donors
- Co-ordinator assessments
- Organise medical assessments
- Provide support and teaching to non-transplant wards
