This is an exciting new opportunity as Buckinghamshire NHS Trust takes on the responsibility as a host organisation for the delivery of the Adult Critical Care Transfer Service for TV& W. Our organisation are currently working with our partners in South Central Ambulance Service to deploy and develop this service for Critical Care Units and subsequently our patients across the region.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to help and lead various developmental projects and programmes that will help to achieve our stated aims and objectives.

Main duties of the job

The Service Development Manager will support the General Manager, Clinical leads, and Service lead by providing day-to-day operational management support for the Adult Critical Care Transfer Service co-ordinating for Bucks Healthcare NHS Trust.

The post-holder will be responsible for providing timely, efficient, and effective operational management support, with the overall aim of ensuring that services are responsive and provided to the highest possible clinical and performance standards.

They will also support the development and implementation of projects to improve service delivery and patient experience in key areas and will help to ensure that performance and quality targets are met.

Person Specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • Educated to Degree level or Equivalent
  • Project management qualification


Desirable

  • Recognised leadership and/or management qualification or equivalent


EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience of working within Intensive Care Medicine either Clinically or Operationally is essential (minimum 2 years)
  • Contributing to improvements in service standards and patient experience
  • Suggesting innovative and lasting solutions to problems and difficulties
  • Experience of working with patients and the public to develop and improve services


Desirable

  • Experience of Project management / Co-ordinating Quality improvement initiatives
  • Previous experience of Service Management
  • Experience of general management of clinical services
  • Monitoring compliance with local and national performance and quality targets
  • Experience of budget and resource management
  • Experience of managing administrative and support staff


SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Up-to-date knowledge of defined service areas, including current issues in service delivery, patient pathways
  • Understanding of current issues in health service management, including business planning process
  • Effective verbal and written communication to facilitate effective working with clinical staff, patients and carers, and work colleagues
  • Ability to write management reports and on key performance and service issues
  • Understanding of the importance of good Human Resources practice
  • Ability to motivate staff to deliver the best for patients


Desirable

  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex and varied information in order to identify issues and solutions
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviours and attitudes consistent with Trust values and service standards
