As a highly motivated individual with strong IT literacy the post holder will support the Solutions Architect Team Manager and Solutions Architects to research, advise and propose integrated clinical and business solutions to current and future digital strategies collaborative care pathways, cross-organisational MDTs and PLACE based care.

As a junior member of the team, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills and experience. To do so, you will work alongside the Solutions Architects to develop in-depth knowledge of complex pathways through a process of discovery, process mapping and documentation that can be used, in conjunction with other stakeholders, to form opinions of future strategy and decisions.

You will also need to be able to develop an understanding of the current, complex mix of in-house and commercial solutions and the challenges arising from integrating legacy systems in a manner which minimises clinical risk whilst supporting seamless and high-quality information flows which will directly contribute to the Solutions Architects options appraisals.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Solutions Architect Team Manager, Solutions Architects and other key stakeholders such as the Chief Information Officer, Chief Technical Architect and Chief Support Officer in the development of digital strategy, strategic outline cases, outline business cases and full business cases.
  • Work with the Solutions Architects to identify and capture new organisational needs, developing clear and detailed process maps and business requirements that can be used to inform digital strategy.
  • To acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of complex organisational processes and systems used in support of patient care.
  • Understand the Solutions Architects framework covering, exploration, design, approval, governance, and implementation.
  • Support the Solutions Architects evaluate, document, and propose solutions for large and/or complex business areas, supported by evidence, and to communicate these through effective briefings, reports and presentations so that they may be understood by staff of varying technical ability and background.
  • To provide support on complex analysis activities in often contentious situations to ensure common understanding of difficult and sometimes contentious ideas.
  • To provide support on day-to-day requests.
  • Arranging meetings for the Solutions Architects Team.

  • Work closely with Other Team members, alongside the Transformation, Integration, , Software Development, Clinical Systems, Training and Performance Teams and organisational stakeholders on the architecting of integrated digital solutions that underpin place based care and integrated patient pathways.
  • Stay up to date on the latest NHS clinical and business system developments at regional and national levels and incorporate any findings into your work, options appraisals and briefings.
  • Develop and maintain effective networks and relationships with:
  • IM& T staff at all levels.
  • Clinical and senior stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.
  • Suppliers.
  • 3rd party organisations.
  • Other NHS organisations (local, regional and national).

  • 13. Represent the organisations interests in discussions with key internal and external stakeholders.

    14. Be an excellent team player. Ensure all team members and associated IM& T teams are kept fully abreast of proposed solutions to ensure we get the best solutions available, taking into account existing expertise and all aspects of NHS digital requirements.

    15. The post holder will be expected to undertake on-going personal training and development to maintain relevant skills and experience in evolving software development frameworks and technologies.

    16. Advanced IT literacy and keyboard skills are essential for this role and the post holder must be comfortable working for long periods reading, writing and editing data at their desk and workstation for up to 8 hours a day. Prolonged periods of concentration are required.

    17. The post holder may, in the future, be required to work remotely, away from the main office.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • 2 A-levels or equivalent demonstrable experience
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrable experience


    Desirable

    • Project Management Skills (Agile, PRINCE2 etc.)
    • TOGAF Certified


    Aptitue & Abilities

    Essential

    • Ability to prioritise effectively, work to deadlines and cope within a busy environment.
    • Ability to be an active listener and to tailor communication to the audience.


    Desirable

    • Good presentational skills.
    • Ability to network with credibility within the Trusts and other NHS Trusts meeting structure


    Knowledge & Experience

    Essential

    • Demonstrable experience of clinical and operational processes.
    • Proven knowledge and demonstrable experience of IT Systems.

    • Understanding and proven knowledge of health service terminology and information standards & requirements.
