This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialised Pharmacist (Band 7 to 8a progression) to join a dynamic pharmacy service. You will be appointed to the grade according to your knowledge, skills and experience. Where you are recruited to a Band 7 position we will support your progress to an 8a role based on the Advanced Level Framework. The successful candidate will work within a well-established team with an excellent culture of multidisciplinary working, providing opportunities to develop and embed a career in oncology and haematology pharmacy whilst delivering a highly patient focused service.
Main duties of the job
Portsmouth Combined Haematology Oncology Centre (CHOC) is based at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham. It serves the local population of around 850,000 and with part of West Sussex and the Isle of Wight enlarges the Cancer Centre catchment to 1-1.5 million. Oncology has a large footprint within the hospital with combined Oncology/Haematology inpatient unit, acute oncology unit, day case unit, oncology clinic suites & on-site radiotherapy.

Job responsibilities
The successful applicant will join the specialist oncology / haematology pharmacy team, who provide a comprehensive service to the day case unit, outpatients and pharmacist cover for the oncology / haematology wards along with provision of pharmaceutical services to a satellite day unit.
There is an excellent culture of multidisciplinary team working and there are opportunities within the role to run clinics and become involved in clinical trials. You will have the opportunity to make a significant difference to the patient experience and treatment journey and patient safety, providing medicines optimisation to a complex cohort of patients. The successful applicant will help ensure that suitable systems and processes are followed to assure patient safety, optimise clinical outcomes and meet operational goals, ensuring governance and quality controls are in place. The post holder will act as a role model and become an expert in SACT as well as developing specialist knowledge in all aspects of drug management of haematology and oncology patients.

- Masters or Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy
- Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council
- Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
- Practice Certificate in Non-medical Prescribing
Desirable
- Member of specialist pharmacist practice group e.g. UKCPA
Experience
Essential
- Significant hospital pharmacy experience involving clinical pharmacy services
- Previous experience as a pharmacist in a leading role (team, service or directorate responsibilities).
- Previous experience of Clinical Pharmacy.
