Due to recent investment in our Oesophago-Gastric (OG) service, we are looking to recruit Band 6 Specialist Dietitians to join our specialist multidisciplinary team. The Northern Oesophago-Gastric Unit is an established regional centre for both oncology and benign surgical procedures. We are looking for enthusiastic dietitians with an interest in oesophago-gastric dietetics to work with the specialist multidisciplinary team to support patients on treatment pathways for both OG cancer and benign conditions. This is an exciting opportunity to practice a wide range of dietetic skills including home enteral feeding and parenteral nutrition, whilst specialising in a complex and interesting disease area. Previous experience in OG dietetics is highly desirable and you must have experience in contributing to service development or clinical audits.

Post 1: Permanent - 30 hours/week
Post 2: Fixed Term Temporary - 37.5 hours/week (20 January 2025 - 19 October 2025) to cover maternity leave.
Full-time or part-time working will be considered.

You will be working closely with a Band 7 lead dietitian as well as the wider dietetic and multidisciplinary team to support the development of both inpatient and outpatient services. You will have the opportunity to be involved with and encouraged to participate in audits and other service development initiatives within the dietetic department and OG service.
We are committed to training A, B and C dietetic students (currently from Leeds Beckett and Newcastle Universities) and the successful candidate will be required to supervise students. The team is committed to supporting staff development and encourages research, audit and CPD opportunities.

- Be able to maintain good relationships with colleagues and the wider MDT

- HPC UK registered dietitian
- Degree in Dietetics or Science/Nutrition Degree plus Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics.
- Evidence of specialist training or validated qualification in one or more speciality areas.

- Basic counselling skills or training in cognitive behaviour therapy.
- Teaching certificate.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or similar.
- Clinical supervisory skills training.
