The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation.
Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare Values and Behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Critical Care Matron. Our current Matron is retiring therefore we are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic Matron with a wealth of critical care nursing experience to lead the critical care nursing team. As the Matron you will be responsible for providing exceptional senior clinical leadership within a modern, busy and acute unit. Critical Care is a key service within our Division with 17 beds for both elective/non- elective care. You will also be responsible for the Critical Care Outreach Team. You will work closely with the clinical lead for Critical Care and be required to work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Patient safety is fundamental to the excellence of our service. The Matron is responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of evidence based, safe and effective nursing interventions, infection prevention and safeguarding standards. You should be proactive, flexible and have a keen eye for detail to maintain the excellent care standards we strive to deliver. The post holder is required to be a visible leader within the Division, maintaining a clinical presence to support the teams and ensure high standards are maintained.
The unit runs a well established follow up clinic led by a multi-disciplinary team of critical care professionals. Our critical care unit is fully committed to audit, research, QI and provides a dynamic environment conducive to learning.
Barts Health has a commitment to providing ongoing professional and educational development to all our staff and has a rolling programme for staff attendance at accredited courses. If you thrive on challenges and are invested in improving patient care, we would encourage your application for this post.
For further details / informal visits contact Associate Director of Nursing Jackie Marshall or Dr Jason Gittens, jackie.marshall4@nhs.net 07759814888 or shelina.khanam@nhs.net PA to the Division.
