Would you like to be part of a dynamic team leading our Medicines Information Service within the Medicines Resource Centre (MRC) at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust?

You would be the lead for our queries from across the integrated care system particularly Buckinghamshire, including both primary care and secondary care staff and patients via our dedicated patient helpline. Our Medicines information team work closely with our governance, medicines safety and formulary teams as part of the Medicines Resource Centre.

Main duties of the job

Medicines information, formulary and patient helpline queries, training staff, leading on patient group directives (PGDs), ward commitment and operational cover, management of staff and service.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Essential

  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Post-graduate diploma/MSc in clinically-based pharmacy or recognised equivalent
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society


SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Able to prioritise and manage own workload
  • Work , communicate and provide effective leadership within a team
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers and to ensure records are kept accurately and in a legible manner.
  • Competent in being able to question, research, evaluate and answer all levels of medicine information enquiries
  • Able to recognise and embrace new ideas and developments in clinical practice and implement under supervision of superiors
  • To have a positive attitude, be able to recognise and communicate need for change and be able to participate in change management processes.
  • Prepared to attend any training sessions necessary for personal and service development


EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Significant post registration pharmacist experience in the health sector the majority based within the NHS
  • Delivery of pharmacy services to a range of specialities
  • Previous manager of a MI service
  • Experience of hospital pharmacy at Post Registration Pharmacist level
  • Experience of development and implementation of shared care protocols
  • Experience of writing, reviewing, and approving Patient Group Directions
  • Experience of developing and implementing SOPs
  • Experience of the different elements of introducing NICE guidance into practice
  • Awareness of current arrangements in NHS commissioning of high-cost medicines
  • Experience of writing and implementing formulary submissions for new medicines
  • Experience of writing and reviewing evidence-based guidelines
  • Experience of literature searching and critical appraisal
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and risk management
  • Experience of implementation of medication safety initiatives
  • Experience of training of other pharmacy staff
  • Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development
  • Experience in education and training of others including pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals


Desirable

  • Experience of Medicines Information service delivery


SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

  • Able to travel to other sites within the Trust and to venues for training
