The Midwifery Service at Swansea Bay has ambitious plans for its future. Under the direction of its Head of Midwifery, the service is progressing a transformation programme centred upon the development and opportunities for its maternity workforce, promoting service improvements through prevention, safety, learning and quality, improving women's choice and the personalisation of care.We are looking for experienced midwives with an interest in developing their skills, knowledge and expertise to transform these ambitions into a sustainable, inspiring and achievable reality.

Maternity services in Swansea Bay are organised across Singleton and Neath Port Talbot hospitals, with dedicated Birth centres in both locations, a Labour ward at Singleton hospital and support from highly skilled Community teams supporting antenatal, community based intrapartum and postnatal care.

Main duties of the job

The Community Midwifery Team Manager Role

These are exciting opportunities for experienced midwives to develop and enhance their knowledge and expertise.

We are offering applicants the opportunity to choose between applying for either a permanent post or a six month secondment. Applicants who choose to apply for a six month secondment will require the support of their Line Manager.

To support individuals in the Team Manager role, a bespoke development package has been designed, centred around the unique Community Midwifery Team Manager job description.

The bespoke development package will include 5 core elements.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to individualise the package based on their own specific development needs.

About us

The Health Board currently finds itself in an exciting position, with the ambition to transform Maternity Services for the region, and is looking to appoint into newly developed Community Team Manager Roles who can develop and oversee the delivery of a range of measures building upon safety, choice and support for the population we serve. As senior midwives within community services, the roles will provide professional and clinical leadership to their teams, demonstrating high levels of compassion, trust and support, to promote a democratic and collaborative leadership style which role models the values of the Health Board and creates an inspiring platform for engagement and innovation.

These exciting roles are designed to harness midwifery specific skill and expertise and will be instrumental in the successful re-establishment of the Freestanding Midwifery Unit in Neath Port Talbot hospital.

  • Registered Midwife with active NMC Registration

  • Motivational interviewing training

  • Substantial clinical midwifery experience in all settings
