We are looking for a qualified nurse who has substantial experience of working in an acute setting and would like to develop urgent care skills across a wide range of conditions including care of the seriously unwell patient.

The unit is keen to develop all nursing staff to the maximum potential and you will have the opportunity to obtain the Minor Injury Course (pending availability) after a period of development and will then be able to see and treat minor injuries autonomously using evidence based protocols.

We are seeking applications from nurses who have the ability and determination to learn and to gain new skills and competencies and who are motivated to develop the highest standards of care and who are committed to continuous improvement.

Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills and have a good knowledge and understanding of clinical standards. You must be able to work on your own initiative and also be an excellent team player whilst being prepared to develop as an individual and support others to develop.

Main duties of the job

To work as a skilled member of the nursing team.To provide a high standard of compassionate patient centred care.To lead and supervise the work of other qualified and unqualified staff within the team.To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.To be able to take charge of the ward in the absence of senior nursing staff, as deemed appropriate by the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse or Clinical Matron.

  • Level 1 registered nurse with valid NMC registration/students pending registration

  • Assessing and mentoring qualification

Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in an acute trust within the last 12 months

  • Experience in emergency or urgent care


Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of evidence based practice to enhance care
  • Understanding of professional and current issues in nursing

  • Understanding of policies/procedures relating to emergency care
