We are a small team of three Mental Health Dietitians working across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, Ashton and Stockport. This post covers Pennine's South Division adult and older age mental health wards in Stockport.

To develop and deliver an effective, specialised, nutrition advisory and dietetic service to patients under the care of mental health and learning disability services within Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust

This is a ward based role.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist clinical dietetic support to mental health wards across the Trust (Adults, Older people and Rehabilitation and High Support). You may also be required to provide cover for Mental Health Wards in other areas of Pennine and Oldham Adult Learning Disabilities service which includes Home Enteral Tube Feeding.

To deliver training to mental health staff and patient groups on nutritional issues.

Job responsibilities

BSc degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or BSc in relevant science subject and Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics
  • Registered as a dietitian with the HCPC

Evidence of CPD including specialist post-registration courses to diploma level or equivalent experience

Experience of managing a dietetic case load.

Good knowledge of nutrition and dietetics and an understanding of the dietary management of common conditions requiring diet therapy

Relevant clinical dietetic experience

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc Nutrition & Dietetics or BSc in relevant science subject plus post-graduate diploma/MSc in Nutrition & Dietetics/Dietetics
  • HCPC registration
  • Evidence of CPD training to diploma level in relevant area or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Member of the British Dietetic Association
  • Member of a special interest group
  • Accredited BDA course in mental health / learning disabilities
  • Basic clinical supervisory skills training


Experience

Essential

  • Relevant clinical dietetic experience
  • Experience of managing a dietetic case load
  • Demonstrable NHS experience
  • Experience of MDT working skills and working independently


Desirable

  • Experience of working with patients with mental health conditions and dementia
  • Experience of enteral feeding


Knowledge

Essential

  • Good knowledge of nutrition and dietetics and an understanding of the dietary management of common conditions requiring diet therapy
  • Awareness of the HCPC Standards of conduct, performance and ethics and Standards of Proficiency


Desirable

  • Knowledge of different ethnic cultures and religions
  • Knowledge of clinical governance
