Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to develop yourself whilst playing a key role in the development of others?We are seeking an exceptional individual who is enthusiastic, energetic and will thrive in a busy Ophthalmology Department. As a senior member of the nursing team, you would also be responsible to cover the department in the absence of others therefore rotation would be essential to ensure clinical skills are maintained in all aspects of the department.
You will be required to provide support, specialised knowledge and expertise in the day to day care and management of all patients coming through the department. Working within this very busy environment will provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your clinical, managerial and leadership skills. As an effective leader and role model you will be expected to be flexibly work over 7 day period to support the Matron and Sister. You would be responsible to ensure standards are maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.
This opportunity will provide a fantastic platform to build leadership and clinical skills at a Sister/Charge Nurse level.
The successful candidate will have an active NMC registration and 2 years experience of working at a Team Leader level.
Experience in Ophthalmology is essential. The successful applicant will be working within a friendly innovative driven team that puts the patients at the heart of everything we do.
Main duties of the job
You will play a key role in ensuring patients, carers, clinical staff and the wider community have the necessary education and training in order to care for and manage Ophthalmic patient's effectively with high professional standards, excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to work within the Ophthalmic Unit.
The successful applicant will need to have a good range of clinical nursing skills, be proactive, work autonomously and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of being highly visible as a clinical leader.
The role will involve supporting junior nursing colleagues, ensuring daily care standards are maintained, engaging in quality monitoring and HR processes, incident and complaints management and taking on a leadership role in the absence of the Matron and Senior Sisters. In addition to this, there is an expectation that the post holder will continually develop themselves through engagement with Practice Development.
