Main duties of the job

This postcould either be appointed to as either a band 7 preceptorship working towards an 8a position, or at an 8a depending upon skills and experience. Responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly.

The post holder will be based within the Health in Mind team, which is a multi-disciplinary team including clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists and a Liaison psychiatrist. The post holder will provide input across different specialties inBCH, for example,therenal and livermulti-disciplinary teams. The post holder will be expected to:
  • Identify the psychological needs of children with different medical health diagnoses.
  • Undertake complex psychological assessments of children with different medical health diagnoses.
  • Contribute to psychological care planning and signpost to Health in Mind where appropriate
  • Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings
  • Collaborate with team members in audit, research and training/ teaching
  • Provide advice and guidance to parents based on assessment findings and on-going psychological input where appropriate.

Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC accredited psychology doctorate. Including: Clinical Psychology Doctorate, Counselling Psychology Doctorate, Health Psychology Doctorate
  • HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist


Desirable

  • Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors


Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children/adolescents


Desirable

  • Experience of working in an inpatient and/or acute health setting


Analytic and Judgement skills

Essential

  • Facilitating clinical decision-making & care planning with multi-disciplinary professionals


Desirable

  • Ability to assimilate a lot of information in a fast paced, highly emotive environment


Proefssional/managerial/specialist

Essential

  • Experience of psychological assessments
  • Understanding of specialist psychological literature/guidelines
  • Ability to use IT to prepare reports
  • Confidence and experience of using Microsoft systems (outlook, word, powerpoint etc)
  • Confidence and experience using common NHS IT systems eg. electronic patient records (EPR), electronic staff record (ESR)


Desirable

  • Confidence and experience of using digital platforms to aid communication and connection eg. MS teams, zoom, accuRx, Doctor Doctor
