Liverpool Women's Hospital NHS Trust is looking for motivated and enthusiastic midwives to join our Maternity Services Team. This is an exciting time to join the trust as we work with the recommendations from the Better Births report and developing our Continuity of Carer teams .This is a vacancy open to experienced Band 6 Midwives for rotational midwifery posts. Candidates will be able to show excellent clinical skills in every aspect of midwifery. Our service is continually changing and evolving to meet the needs of the population and ensure women and their familieshave a positive birthing experience. We welcome innovative ways of working and new ideas. We are a very friendly and supportive team, keen to gain the best out of every midwife. Main duties of the job

The role will require midwives who have the passion to provide kind, safe and personalised midwifery care, acting as an advocate for women and their families throughout pregnancy and birth.It is a requirement of the role to be able to work nights and weekends.

Job responsibilities

As a Band 6 Rotational Midwife at LWH you will work as part of a team as an autonomous practitioner, providing holistic midwifery and public health care and education to women and their families in a range of settings in the community services across the city, and here at the Liverpool Womens Hospital.

You will be required to work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies as part of a multidisciplinary /multi-agency team delivering safe personalised care to promote positive experience of pregnancies and birth.

Person Specification

Skills, Knowledge & Aptitudes

Essential

  • Commitment to midwifery practice
  • Commitment to promotion of breast-feeding and support of breast-feeding mothers.
  • Proficient in neonatal resuscitation.
  • Knowledge of audit and research.
  • Working knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
  • Knowledge of public health/midwifery issues.
  • Up to date professional knowledge / reports / frameworks that impact on provision of Maternity Services.


Desirable

  • A general understanding of payment by results and maternity pathways
  • Counelling and bereavement skills
  • Participation in service development projects


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable and recent relevant experience of working in community or hospital or birth centre setting
  • Competent in all aspects of Midwifery practice including intrapartum care and perineal suturing
  • Evidence of a desire to work as an integrated midwife
  • Working knowledge / experience of multiagency working


Qualifications & Learning

Essential

  • Registered Midwife / BSc midwifery studies
  • Evidence of continuous and recent professional development


Desirable

  • Introduction to Management
  • Mentorship/ Preceptorship qualification
