Assistant Psychologist Band 5 Full time/flexible working: Step 4 County South Adult Mental Health
Job overviewWe are delighted to offer a full-time opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist at Band 5 within the Step 4 County South team, in Nottingham Adult Mental Health Directorate.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our group of clinical and counselling psychologists, working in the Step 4 County South Service. The Step 4 County South service delivers psychological therapy to people who experience a variety of mental health difficulties, including complex trauma, depression, anxiety, and co-morbid physical health conditions. We have a long- and well-established history working with hard-to-reach groups. We have an excellent working relationship with local GPs and the third sector. We are always keen to find innovative and forward-thinking ways of working to support the delivery of psychological work in Nottinghamshire. Working with partners across sectors.
As a group we prioritise the individual Psychologist's well-being. We want Psychologist's to thrive and get the most from their employment as well as being able to balance this with their home life. We also believe that Psychology support is much more than providing therapy and Psychologists are therefore encouraged to develop their interests within psychological therapies and also around the broader application of psychology to the mental health difficulties of the population we serve.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the jobWe see the role of the Step 4 assistant psychologist as:
To support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service developing brief interventions and providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions (individual and group work) under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist.
To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, and training and project work.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesWe support individual therapy work, through supervision with experienced colleagues in a range of therapy models, case discussion with the wider Step 4 team and support further training.
As well as being part of the Step 4 County South Team, the successful candidates will be part of a vibrant and friendly group of psychologists who work across the Trust. We meet on a regular basis to share ideas, CPD and leadership meetings. Our commitment to you is that we will provide you with opportunities to develop professionally within a committed and supportive adult mental health service, which plays an important role in supporting increasing access to psychological therapies within community settings. The posts are being supported by the Consultant Lead for Step 4 and the LMHTs Psychologists, as well as the Professional Lead for Clinical Psychology within AMH.

- 1st class or Upper second class honours degree or 2.2 plus higher degree in Psychology and ability to demonstrate eligibility to graduate membership of the BPS.
- Further relevant post-graduate training (e.g. in Forensic, clinical or other applied Psychology discipline).
Desirable
- A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

- Experience of working in a Step service, or similar or patients with mental health problems/ intellectual & developmental disabilities/ personality disorders.
- Experience of MDT and multi-agency working
- Experience of completing risk assessments
- Experience of delivering group or individual psychological work
- Experience of supporting the development of structured programmes
- Experience of conference presentations, publications or teaching/training delivery.
