Join our dynamic team as an Apprentice Ward Clerk in a brand-new Inpatient Therapy Unit, where you'll gain invaluable experience in healthcare administration while supporting patient care.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our brand new reablement ward at Willow Therapy Unit at NCH& C NHS Trust. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable Ward Clerk and Administration experience with our brand new team. As part of this role you will have the opportunity to gain experience in providingongoing support to the Ward Clerks ensuring that all administrative processes and tasks are undertaken efficiently, effectively and to a high standard, contributing to the smooth running of the ward and reception areas and its overall effectiveness. To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service.
On completion of your Apprenticeship, you will have achieved a Level 3 Apprenticeship Diploma in Business Administration within the 18-month contract of employment. Whilst you are working towards this, you will receive excellent support from the immediate team and assessors.
We will also offer you 27 days holiday, plus bank holidays, and access to exclusive NHS Discounts on high street stores and food retailers.

Main duties of the job
Greet and direct all visitors, e.g. patients, patient's relatives, and representatives to the appropriate member of staff/patient.
Answer the telephone and deal with or refer on all incoming calls to the ward staff as appropriate.
Receive and distribute post.
To provide continuity of presence at the ward reception desk.
Photocopying, scanning, emailing, distributing and filing letters, reports and other correspondence promptly and efficiently, ensuring that all patient records, files and filing lists are maintained and kept up to date.
Maintain admission and discharge records accurately so that they are up to date and correspond with PAS and SystmOne
To liaise with the help desk to ensure all IT faults and queries are dealt with efficiently and effectively.
Assist in the recording of patient's property and valuables whilst they are inpatients on the ward.
Liaise with nursing teams to book appropriate transport for discharge
Liaise with relatives to confirm discharge dates and maintain discharge checklists
To book in new patients to the ward.
Maintain supply of patient information leaflets at all times.
To maintain confidentiality at all times in all aspects of work.
