An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Clinical Lead Nurse to the CMHT Older Adults in Furness.

This integrated CMHT provides a Memory Assessment Service, care for patients with more complex needs associated with both functional and organic illness, Care Home and Hospital Liaison. The unique set-up of these integrated teams allows a seamless delivery of care for patients throughout all stages of their illness, and a collaborative approach within the team.

We are seeking an experienced registered mental health nurse with a desire to work with people with older adults with mental health needs. The ideal candidate will be able to provide expert clinical knowledge and interventions for patients with complex needs, and clinical supervision across the team. They will ensure effective clinical oversight, so that quality is maintained. They will also have a desire to learn, through continuous improvement, and promote best practice within the team.The team serves the population of the Furness Peninsula at the edge of the Lake District and has its base in Barrow-in-Furness. It is an established team with a friendly and supportive culture. There is a visible and supportive leadership team who are committed to clinical supervision and professional development.You will be working with an established multi-disciplinary team in busy clinics and patients homes, therefore a car driver essential for this post.

Main duties of the job

o Provide expert clinical knowledge and interventions, advice, support and supervision in the Community Mental Health Team to colleagues, service users, families and carers.o To ensure clinical caseloads are managed working in partnership with team leaders, through effective clinical oversight, clinical audit, and clinical pathways to promote recovery.o To ensure we are always learning, through continuous improvements, and to promote Best Practice within community teams.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse with NMC
  • Post-registration experience and/or evidence of formal courses and training at post graduate diploma level
  • Mentorship Course, including Clinical Supervision Training
  • Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification (or willing to work towards this)


Knowledge / Experience

Essential

  • Significant demonstrable post qualification experience at Band 6 working in a mental health/ community specialist setting or equivalent.
  • Experience of developing, delivering and evaluating specialist programmes of care and risk management plans.
  • Evidence of successful mentoring and/or supervision of junior members of staff including students.
  • Evidence of improving service delivery in line with evidence based practice.
  • Demonstrable experience of effective multi-disciplinary team working.


Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • oHighly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate diplomacy, tact and negotiation skills.
  • oAbility to manage highly stressful and emotive situations.
  • oCurrent knowledge of the policy and challenges facing NHS providers.
  • oUp to date and relevant knowledge of evidence based practice, e.g. NICE Guidance.
  • oKnowledge of regulatory bodies and the requirements associated with this in terms of standards of service delivery, e.g. CQC.
