We are pleased to offer a unique and rewarding opportunity for an experienced nurse to become part of the established Endocrinology Team at the Bedford Hospital site.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' post-registration experience in acute nursing, with at least 1 year in a Band 6 role or equivalent.
Based at the North Bedfordshire Diabetes and Endocrinology Centre, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the specialist endocrine services at Bedford Hospital.
As a key member of the team, you will work closely with Endocrinologists to provide expert care for patients with both acute and chronic endocrine conditions. You will deliver specialist advice and clinical support to patients, families, and carers throughout the diagnostic process. Under the supervision of the Consultant Endocrinologists you will deliver thyroid follow up clinics and adrenal and parathyroid pre-assessment clinics.

Main duties of the job
To support the specialist endocrine service at Bedford Hospital.
To undertake and co-ordinate dynamic function tests used for diagnosing and monitoring of patients with endocrine disorders. To be a key worker for patients with acute and chronic endocrine conditions. To provide Nurse led Thyroid monitoring clinics, adrenal and parathyroid pre-assessment clinics and other clinical duties which are in keeping with the role. To ensurecare delivered is evidence based and of a high standard. To produce and deliver audits of relevance within the endocrine department. To attend, contribute and present where possible at meetings both departmentally and on a local and national level.

- Perform all or oversee dynamic function tests following trust approved Protocols and if clinically appropriate to inform patients of the results.
- Co-ordinate inpatient admission and tests, overseeing the tests during the in-patient stay.
- To run endocrine clinics under the supervision of the consultant or following trust approved protocols to include thyroid follow up clinics, parathyroid and adrenal pre-assessment clinics.
- Make clinical decisions whilst working in partnership with professionals within the Department of Endocrinology.
