The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.

Our flagship specialist cancer hospital in Liverpool opened in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care, and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust).

Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for safely assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care to patients attending the department
  • To offer the patient and families advice to manage toxicity's and symptoms related to their treatment and support to address their holistic needs.Education & learning
  • The post holder will supervise junior staff and participate in the teaching and assessing of pre and post registration students
  • To offer advice, support and education to clinical teams across the trust where appropriate
  • Act as a link nurse in key nursing roles to ensure the safe delivery of the SACT serviceLeadership & Management
  • This post holder will provide clinical leadership to support the delivery of evidence based patient centered care
  • Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of care and providing clinical leadership to others
  • They will take responsibility for the Quality Management of their designated areas with a specific emphasis on Infection Control, Leading a Nurse Led Service and Patient Safety.
  • Manage local resolution of patient concerns and complaints
  • Escalate risk/issues and effectively action to minimise future risks
  • Deputise in the absence
  • Research & Development
  • To develop patient pathways and be responsible for developing the SACT nursing service
  • To participate in quality improvement initiatives within the division. Lead clinical audits

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1st level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • UKONS SACT Passport or NM6 995
  • Chemotherapy Administrations and Care
  • Clinical Examination
  • Clinical Diagnostics towards
  • Teaching and assessing qualification


Desirable

  • Degree or working towards
  • Non-Medical prescribing (NMP) qualification


Knowledge

Essential

  • Leadership skills
  • Previous experience in a SACT clinical environment


Desirable

  • NM6 999 Foundations in Cancer Care
  • NM6 998 Cancer Treatments and Care
  • NM6 996 Chemotherapy Principles and Care


Experience

Essential

  • Competent in the delivery of all SACT
  • Competent in Cannulation/Phlebotomy/CVAD
  • Previous experience in Solid Tumours and or Haemato-oncology.
