We are currently looking to recruit an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, with demonstrable experienced in autonomous practice, to work across our SACT services. The post holder will provide expertise in their area of clinical practice, professional leadership and education in the field of Oncology

Thisnew roleforms part of our development of SACT services in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

You will be joining a forward thinking and dedicated team where patient experience and excellence in care is our priority.

Main duties of the job

As part of a multi - professional team the post holder will work at advanced level clinical practice, operatingautonomously and practicing collaboratively whilst demonstrating accountability and self-direction in line with the relevant code of professional conduct.

The post holder will be a clinical leader in their sphere of practice over a predefined period, enabling innovative solutions to the care and experience of practice. The post holder will ultimately demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgement and diagnostic reasoning in order to provide a differential diagnosis.

The post holder will be able to work within a high-pressured environment.The post holder will have knowledge and skills within oncology diseases and treatments, within a specified area, enabling them to undertake advanced practice supported by a clinical supervisor. Additional skills and knowledge will be attained within their specialist area enabling the post holder to review patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) with a lead role in Immunotherapy treatments.

Job responsibilities

  • To take responsibility to autonomously manage patients, utilising specialist skills and knowledge as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to manage patients undergoing SACT in all clinical environments.
  • Will have skills and knowledge to be able to assess individuals and families using person-centred approaches and a range of assessment methods including history taking, physical examination, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests or conducting health needs assessment.To use their clinical-reasoning skills to undertake an in-depth assessment of the presenting problem, interpret findings, develop working and differential diagnoses, formulate, communicate, implement, and evaluate management plans.
  • To use a diverse range of knowledge to become competent in evidence based therapeutic interventions, which will include prescribing medication (where legally allowed) and actively monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
  • To promote value-based decision making, critically evaluating and appropriately applying, their knowledge and skills in a person-centered way, challenging predetermined protocols or workplace imperatives where necessary.

Person Specification

Education

Essential

  • Registered Practitioner (NMC, HCPC)
  • Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Advanced Communication Skills
  • Psychological Level 2 training
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification


Desirable

  • Management Qualification
  • IRMER Certificate


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in specialty at band 7 or above
  • Demonstrable understanding of current issues within cancer nursing
  • Involvement of codesign with patients in service development
  • Clear and demonstrable evidence, at a senior level, of competent practice in the management of patients undergoing SACT


Desirable

  • Evidence of research, either individual or as part of the team
  • Evidence of involvement in service users' advocacy and complaints resolution.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Expert knowledge in clinical field
  • Highly developed, specialist clinical skills required for area of work
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver complex and changing workload, which will include the need to resolve conflicting priorities within tight timescales
  • Evidenced clinical judgement and advanced decision making in current practice
