An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Dietitian with a passion for nutrition support in the community to join our team. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Team Lead Dietitian and alongside other team members to providing specialist dietetic expertise for adult patients in patient's homes, clinic setting, nursing and care homes, community hospitals, virtual wards and group sessions.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Community Dietitian, you will provide expert nutritional support to individuals across the community, helping to manage chronic conditions, promote healthy eating, and improve overall wellbeing. This role offers the chance to work with diverse populations.

What We're Looking For:
  • Registered Dietitian with HCPC registration.
  • Experience in community or clinical settings (Band 5 or above).
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion for promoting public health and nutrition
  • Must have a drivers licence and access to a vehicle


About us

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,258 to a maximum of £2,122 p.a. pro rata for part time).

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

To be responsible for effective time management, meeting deadlines and responding to fluctuating workloads and organising, planning and prioritising clinical and non-clinical workload.

To have responsibility for the organisation of a clinical caseload to adults in their own homes and community care settings

To be accountable for own professional action and recognise professional boundaries, seeking advice as appropriate

To advise head of service on issues of service delivery including clinical activity, service pressures versus service capacity

Planning home visits

Arranging follow-up appointments

Arranging and delivering training to other health professionals within the remit of the service level agreement

To develop the service linked with community rehab teams and liaise with community nurses within these groups

To work closely with supporting the virtual frailty ward.
