This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and dynamic senior pharmacy team at ROH NHSFT. The post holder will be responsible for the development of the pharmacy service to pre-operative assessment clinics and supporting the delivery of high quality clinical service to surgical wards.

The pharmacy service has undergone a major transformation with the relocation of the department to a newly refurbished space including a brand new Omnicell Robot, trust wide EPMA and automation across all inpatient wards. This is a great time to join a forward-thinking senior pharmacy management team and make a difference in shaping the service for the future. The successful candidate will lead improvements in pharmacy provision to pre-operative assessment clinics through service evaluation and representation at various Trust forums to drive the service forward.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with good clinical skills, experience of prescribing and effective at implementing changes.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will help develop the pharmacy service to pre-operative assessment clinic in line with the aspirations of the pharmacy department, the division and the wider Trust.

As a lead clinical pharmacist the post holder will be responsible for:

1. To be part of the leadership team of pharmacists for the pre-operative assessment clinic (POAC) and to work with the POAC team to devise best models of care to patients - including providing prescribing support

2. Developing, co-ordinating and participating in the post qualification training of pharmacists in liaison with the Lead Pharmacist-Education and Training.

3. To help develop a culture of excellence through exemplar leadership, supervision and mentoring to Foundation Year Pharmacists, Band 6/7 Clinical Pharmacists and medicines management technicians.
  • To support the Chief and Deputy Chief Pharmacists in the development and implementation of the Trust's Medicines policies, systems and processes through appropriate representation at various internal and external forums.
  • Providing supervision to pharmacist prescribers, trainee prescribers and acting as DPP where appropriate
