Children's Psychological Services - East Lancashire

We are looking for an experienced Specialist Psychological Therapist to join our team for 10 sessions per week on a permanent basis in our Specialist Network for Psychological Services in East Lancashire. You will be based at The Mount in Accrington with options to work from home for part of your role. This post offers a specialist service to children and families across East Lancashire.

You will provide high quality assessments and clinical interventions for the full range of children, young people, parents/carers that are referred to the service. You will contribute to the broader aims of the service through joint working and consultation as required.

You will join an established service, which includes Clinical Psychologists, Specialist Therapists, Family Therapist and Trainee and Assistant Psychologists. We are part of Children's Psychological Services and CAMHS across LSCFT and have close links with our local Psychiatry Service in East Lancashire.



Main duties of the job

The service is a lively, dynamic and supportive service with a range of clinical interests and developments. We are committed to CPD and supervision and encourage innovation and development, as well as contributing to local Clinical Psychology Training courses.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified clinicians with extensive knowledge and experience of theory, assessment and intervention with the breadth of complex presentations seen in Children's Psychological Services. Shortlisting will be done against the appropriate job description and person specification and interviews will be pooled. Applications for less than 30 hours will be considered but it is our preference to fill all the sessions if possible.

Person Specification Experience Essential

• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children, young people and their families across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
• Experience of working with children, young people, carers and families presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.

Knowledge Essential

• Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
• Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to children, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both inside and outside the NHS.
• Knowledge of child protection and accompanying policies/procedures and the implementation of these clinically.

Education Essential

• RMN, CQSW, DipSW, BscOT or other suitable mental health qualification.
• Accredited training to post graduate diploma level, or equivalent, that meets the need of children and young people referred to Children's Psychological Services (i.e. CBT, Family Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy).

Desirable

• Further training/experience in relevant specialist therapeutic approaches with complex cases (i.e IY, PCG, VIG, CAT, DBT, EMDR, DDP).
