This is a great opportunity to join the leadership team supporting our Diabetes and Endocrine Ward at Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Trust as a Band 7 Full-time Ward Manager. The Ward operates 24hrs and 7 days a week and we deliver high-quality, effective, safe care in a well-led service. This role involves coordinating a motivated and dedicated nursing team and ensuring that the day-to-day management of the Ward.
There is a strong multi-disciplinary focus on the ward so the successful candidate will need to be able to link closely with the ward teams and be involved with service improvement projects to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day management of patients, staff and the ward as well as supporting the Matron in delivering excellence across all aspects of our patients' journey.Applicants should be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge relative to the area. The possession of the specialist courses is desirable but not essential. Main duties of the job
Through strong leadership, high visibility and accessibility the post holder will enable the unit to deliver excellence in nursing, ensure patient experience is of the highest quality and aim to reduce length of stay.
o Maintain and promote effective communication with the team and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.o Ensure there are systems in place to develop nurse roles and nurse-in-charge role which meet both needs of service and corporate objectives.o Using specialised knowledge ensure the clinical needs of patients are met, taking overall responsibility for the department.o Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, actively seeking evidence based practice which will support clinical outcomes as appropriate.o To set annual Departmental objectives with the Matron and Senior leadership team ensuring that all staff are aware of them and their implementation.o To involve staff in the developments and business of the Trust. Actively encourage and promote, supporting where possible within the constraints of service delivery, staff membership of Trust wide initiatives/committees, professional organisations/forums and/or relevant Trade Unions.o Plan the duty rota taking into consideration the needs of the service. manager.
