An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy team at Mosely Hall Hospital. The role Specialist Neuro-Rehab Occupational Therapist team on the Stroke & Inpatient Neuro Rehabilitation Unit.

The post is full time on a permanent contract.The ward comprises of 20 Stroke beds & 8 INRU beds, these are for patient's requiring the intervention of a level 1b regional rehabilitation unit. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the OT team & support the Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to run the OT service, delivering evidence-based rehabilitation. Providing high quality assessment & treatment to clients with complex neurological conditions. The successful candidate will manage a complex case load facilitating complex discharges. Assessing and providing appropriate adaptive equipment from equipment loans services to enable safe discharges.

You will be working as part of a large and supportive therapy team with excellent training and development opportunities as well as a robust supervision and appraisal system. There are well-established team meetings and CPD is well supported. You will be encouraged to take part in service development projects as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

It is essential that you have your current HPC registration and recognised qualifications as an Occupational Therapist. You should have experience working with patients with a neurological condition at a band 5 or Band 6 level. Can clearly demonstrate neuro-rehabilitation skills for specialist assessment and treatment of clients with neurological conditions. Experience will include working in multi-professional teams and across a range of different agencies to achieve the optimum outcome for service users.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, dynamic, flexible and able to work well within the integrated team. They will offer previous experience in the NHS relevant to this post. They must be capable of working independently but will receive support from senior clinicians. Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered with HCPC Graduate /Degree in occupational therapy
  • Evidence of post graduate training relevant to occupational therapy and in neuro-rehabilitation
  • Evidence of relevant CPD


Desirable

  • Leadership and management training


Experience

Essential

  • Varied comprehensive rotations at junior level and extensive post graduate experience to assess and treat patients with complex disability / multiple pathologies.
  • Experience of giving and receiving clinical supervision
  • Experience of managing complex neuro disability
  • Experience of working in an interdisciplinary team.


Desirable

  • Experience in research

  • Ability to communicate with all levels effectively and be able to vary the approach according to need/situation.
  • Able to advise and support others in the management of patients with complex needs e.g. cognitive, behavioural, physical and social
