Department Inpatient Therapies

Full time or part time (minimum 30 hours per week) available, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

The Therapy Department have exciting opportunities for Apprentice Therapy Assistants to join our Complex medical therapy team. If you get job satisfaction from caring for others in a holistic, person centered approach then this role will be extremely rewarding for the right candidate.

The aspiration of this development post is to support non-experienced individuals to gain a nationally recognised qualification and Specialty experience. The Level 3 Therapy Apprenticeship training programme will last 21 months during which time individuals will be expected to complete the Apprenticeship, and meet the required competencies of the role.

The Apprenticeship programme will be delivered by our external NHS approved training provider Dynamic Training. You will take part in interactive workshops and be assigned a tutor to support you throughout the programme. You will learn key knowledge on the course and embed that learning within the role with your colleagues and patients.

- You are 16 years old or over,

- You have resided in the UK or EEA for at least the past 3 years,

- You can produce evidence of your Maths & English GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications,

- You will not be in full time education at the point of starting this role,

- You have not previously undertaken an Accounting qualification.

Please bring your Maths and English certificates with you to interview, should you be invited.

Candidates must also successfully complete Maths and English Functional Skills Level 2, if they do not hold these qualifications (or equivalent) already.

For the first 12 months of the apprenticeship, you will be paid the national apprentice wage and then vs age from months 13 to 23.

Following successful completion of the training programme and the 'on the job' experience, the individual will transfer to a permanent Band 3, Therapy Assistant post. Completion of departmental competencies appropriate to a Band 3 Therapy Assistant role will be required, as well as no open performance or disciplinary processes.

Job responsibilities

Working as part of a team of dedicated and skilled clinicians you will support the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to provide safe quality care to a range of patients on the wards. These patients are acutely unwell, often complex patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. You may also be involved in assisting with home visits or patients on other wards as required.
